How To: Make A Northern Prince.
Around the Bar Line Tours offices (apartments to the untrained eye), Thrones is life. Dragons, uncomfortable sexual tension between family members, Dickon Tarley, love that shit. The feast for the eyes that is the northern environment might be the runaway favorite aspect of the series now that the writing has gone south for the winter. It reminds us so much of the Scottish Isles, and scotch. So we made a cocktail about it.
- 1.5oz blended scotch whisky
- 0.5oz Lillet Blanc
- 0.25oz honey-tarragon syrup
- Dash of orange bitters
- Orange Zest
Our rendition of the Prince Edward cocktail, the Northern Prince features herbs from Southern California (which are also found through out the NORTHERN Hemisphere), has a subtle sweetness, and is a little less boozy than its cousin. For the base spirit, a blended scotch will give you the best results (Buchanan's 12 year was our pick) with .5oz of Lillet Blanc. We substituted Drambuie with a tarragon-infused honey syrup (both locally sourced, of course) giving it floral and herbal qualities akin to honeysuckle and anise, albeit at the cost of some ABV points. Add a dash of orange bitters, stir accordingly in a large glass of ice, and zest with an orange peel. Enjoy it neat or on the rocks!
